For more than thirty years, sociology Professor Bill Rolston has been researching and documenting wall murals in the North of Ireland. These books are an important archive of political paintings that captured particular representations of allegiances, causes and episodes during the years of conflict and the emergence of peace following the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Most of the murals that appear in the books no longer exist.
Between them the books contain over 560 colour photographs of Loyalist and Republican murals. A small selection from each book appears below.
