For online sales we charge a flat rate £3.50 per order for postage and packing for Ireland and Britain.

For US, Canada and Australia we charge £5.50 per order for postage and packing. For all other destinations the charge is £4.00

We use Royal Mail’s 1st Class service for UK orders and the International Standard or Economy service for non-UK destinations. For US deliveries we use International Economy which can take several weeks but books usually arrive within ten working days.

At present, Royal Mail charges international rates for small parcels going from Northern Ireland to the Republic. It costs almost three times as much to send a book from Belfast to Dublin as it does from Belfast to London.

In contrast, An Post applies the same postal charge for small parcels anywhere in Ireland, whether the destination is in the Republic or the North of Ireland.

By applying a flat rate charge, Beyond the Pale Books, which is based in Belfast, is absorbing well over half the shipping costs for destinations in the Republic and elsewhere in the world. For UK customers, the flat rate charge covers most of the postage and packing costs of sending a book within the UK.
